I have a confession to make. I love to watch hipster motorcycle videos. In fact they have to be downright stupid for me not to like them. Hell I’m even thinking about making one of my own, after all even though I am old as dirt I’m still so hip I have trouble seeing over my pelvis.

The website that will be brought to your attention today goes quite a bit beyond the typical bike videos normally produced by guys in small shops with custom wares to hawk or questionable skills to show off, and gets deeper into the personalities of the people who ride and love these motorcycles.

We all dream of riding

Based in Australia, Cam Elkins is the creator of Stories of Bike, with the aid of his brother Jack who creates the music that accompanies the videos. Yes there is a video or two involving your typical tattooed 20 somethings with piercings, flannel shirts, and fuzzy beards working on some variation of custom bikes. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with that, and if that were all there is to it, watching these clips would still be a great way to waste a few minutes of your time on a fairly regular basis because of the strong production values the StoriesofBike.com team bring to the table .

But these videos blow right past that, talking to the riders and builders in depth about motorcycles, life, love and how they came to be the people they are today. Yes there is fine machinery in these videos, but there are also fine people in these videos too, from different places & backgrounds but all connected by a common love of riding motorcycles. When you watch one of these clips you end up feeling like you know the person or persons being filmed & interviewed, a very difficult feat to pull off in the short film format.

The video embedded below especially touched my heart, there is nothing better than love that lasts all the way to the end. This is my favorite video at StoriesofBike.com watch it all the to the end.

 

 

Love baby, it’s what makes life worth living, especially when you have motorcycles to go with it.

advrider.com The November Website of the Month

This is one of the largest, craziest, motorcycling communities on the internet. I have actually joined this forum even though so far I have only made one post. But when I am researching a motorcycle, accessory, or gear advrider.com is my “go to first” resource. It’s all in there sometimes you may have to dig through layers of bullshit but the information I needed was always there. Beside a lot of the BS is amusing or interesting. The Shinko 705 tires on my scrambler were purchased based on reviews there. After consultation with another inmate I just ordered a Joe Rocket one piece suit to try.

Let me go ahead & clear one thing up. I am not an adventure rider (anymore & yet) but I do pose like one at the local coffee shop. I’m just another guy who loves motorcycles but puts in most of his mileage commuting with the occasional 50-100 mile weekend ride. I used to ride more & someday hope to do so again.

One thing you need to do right now is just open up the advrider.com home page and just sit there and watch the slide show of fantastic pictures that play on the screen. Since I am running multiple monitors I often just open the home page & let the slide show play. They do rotate in new pictures on a regular basis so check it often.

If you are a thin skinned politically correct wuss, you probably want to stay away from this site. This forum does not have members it has inmates. Down in the basement there a many things that are both disturbing and fun. You will find things that will offend you no matter who you are, so if you are not man or woman enough to suck it up & get over it, stay the hell out of this asylum.

As I said at the beginning this website there is more real motorcycle & gear related information at advrider.com than I have found anywhere else on the internet, but I must admit, being the garage rat that I am, that my favorite sub-forum is the “Some Assembly Required” section.

Just be careful, you can get sucked into this place, and next thing you know the sun is coming up and you haven’t been to bed yet. Some threads have had me laughing so hard that my wife was wondering what was wrong with me. If you are just browsing the site out of curiosity or to see what is new I recommend using a tablet or laptop so that when the battery goes dead you know it is time to take a break.

Ninja 250 Riders Club June Website of the Month

Ninja 250 Riders Club

This is the best forum that I never joined. I wanted to & I still may if there is ever time to add another distraction to my life. Even so the Ninja 250 wiki was all the information that I needed to make the upgrades to my favorite little motorcycle, so that it hauls my big old butt around at reasonable speeds with superior handling. If you are even thinking of getting a Ninja 250 you should visit this page. Sure I would have had no problems restoring mine from the cheap hunk of junk it was to the beauty you see in the picture above, but it was nice to find that someone else had done all of the homework and sorted out the sensible modifications that can be done to these little gems.

Sorry Hyosung and CBR250 fans but the little Ninja is THE 250!
